From Johannesburg to stages around the world, René Hunter has spent around 30 years connecting with people through music. A soul singer at heart, she blends blues, rock and jazz with a voice shaped by a lifetime of listening and performing.

Her story began in a home filled with her father's music. At 14, she joined her first band, singing at night and heading back to school the next morning. Freelance performances and studio vocal work followed.

In her early twenties, René took her voice abroad, performing in production theatre shows aboard European cruise liners and singing in French, Italian and Spanish. After ten years of travelling, she spent around three years in Thailand with a six-piece South African band before returning home to perform solo and alongside other musicians.

Her influences range from Whitney Houston and Etta James to Queen and Paul Rodgers. What unites them is feeling: love, heartbreak, joy and pain, expressed through music that helps people feel seen, heard and understood.
